Looking for somewhere to go for date night in Bondi that doesn’t break the bank?

Whether it’s a first date, or a date number whoknowswhat, organising a special date can be a fun experience, and should be possible without costing you an arm and a leg.

Spending money to have an experience with a partner can be a great investment, allowing you to get to know someone better than you would in front of a Netflix show or over text, but research shows the cost of living is impacting dating, with three in four Aussies agreeing that dating has become much more expensive than it used to be before the pandemic.

So how to balance your dating life with your credit card bill?

In this blog, we’re giving you five actually good date ideas that don’t break the bank.

Have fun xx

Humpday Dating - 5 Cheap Date ideas in Bondi Syndey for your next date night

Average cost of first dates in Australia

Modern day dating can be exhausting. Between the endless swiping, ghosting, and ignored first messages – something is broken in the system!

If you’ve set up a date with someone, we’re here to help you take the stress and uncertainty out of planning and make your next date foolproof (well - the conversation is up to you 😉).

With Australian millennials spending the most on first dates, compared with Gen X and Gen Z, you don’t want to take any chances. Below we dive into tried and tested dates for our Humpday community.

Best experienced on a Wednesday - obviously.

1. North Bondi Fish takeaway on the Grassy Knoll

Bondi institution North Bondi Fish has just launched a brand spanking new takeaway menu. The menu has all the NBF classics like sashimi, fish tacos and fish & chips. Grab some of Bondi’s best bites and pop over to the grassy knoll or the North Bondi rocks for a sunset picnic that will impress anyone with eyeballs. Don’t forget a picnic blanket! Or a couple of beach towels in a pinch.

2. SOCIETY PIZZERIA

For some of the best pizza in Sydney, and some of the most fun and eccentric staff SOCIETY is where it’s at. The ambience is perfect to calm any date jitters. It’s always busy, with a high energy atmosphere, but not too chaotic that you can’t hear each other talk. The classics are great, and the specials will definitely be an icebreaker. Plus, it’s scientifically impossible to be in a bad mood around pizza. Be sure to make a reservation so you don’t get stuck waiting for a table.

3. Burger Park picnic

Ok this might be another picnic idea, BUT it’s a totally different vibe. Head down to Joel Bennetts new Burger Park for some of the freshest burgers around. Bring a natty wine or some beers and a picnic rug, and pop yourself down right outside. Trust us - you won’t want to wait to tuck into these burgers! The well documented, off-menu cheeseburger is a crowd pleaser, as is the classic fishburger from the former Fsh Mkt menu. Stretch your legs after with a walk to Messina around the block to finish off your evening.

4. Lox in a Box walking brunch

Embrace the day time date - grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich from local legends Lox in a Box pick up window after a morning walk, work out class or market trip. The house cured lox is fresh from New Zealand, the reuben is the best in town or there are veggie options. Can't decide? Get two and share - it’s one way to test your compatibility. You know the bagels are always fresh, because the team never use day old bagels for your sambos! In good news, they do use them to make more delicious food - like cookies. Delicious and minimising food waste? A certified banger of a coffee date.

5. Shop Sundays at The Shop & Wine Bar

Ok it might not be a Wednesday, but the happy hour at The Shop is so good we had to include here. The husband and wife team behind The Shop have been making people feel at home since 2006, making this the perfect date spot. The wines are natural and delicious, and a selected amount are $9 between 3 - 6pm Sundays. Grab a cheeseboard and soak in the music, there isn’t a better spot to be for Sunday sundowners or a more chill date location.

Doggo not included
